As long as I have known Phil, he has always been a bulldog on the mound. Even when I met him, he was really nice to me, but this is a different Phil Coke that I have been seeing this season, and I do not like what I see! Jim Leyland made the right move when he sent Phil down to Toledo. I don’t understand why Phil has the record of 0-6 this year, but this is obviously not the Phil that I met. It’s beyond me why Mr. Leyland would even think about bringing Phil back up to Detroit. Jim told Dan Dickerson that he will bring Phil back in September, and I am thinking to myself “really, Leyland, why would you do that”? I think it’s because your team is in a pennant run. I just think that Jim Leyland and Dave Dombrowski should sit down and talk to Phil and see where he is at, but I definitely wouldn’t re-sign him. Who am I? I’m just a reporter. I am not Dave Dombrowski. How a guy can go from looking so great and then look so bad it is just ridiculous. I remember last year when Phil had to replace Jose Valverde, and now he is looking like Jose himself. It is just mind blowing to me. Whatever happens in the off season with Phil and the Tigers, I would like to see Phil Coke in the World Series and see him pitch like he did last year. Is that too much to ask for? It has to be frustrating for Jeff Jones and Jim Leyland. I also wonder where Phil’s head is at? Whether or not he is a Tiger during the off season, we don’t know, but the Tigers need somebody who will step up and take the baseball and throw strikes, please. I say that because Justin Verlander isn’t even doing that. The only Detroit Tiger who is doing that is Max Scherzer. The guy is 19-1. Scherzer is also only signed through the remainder of this year, and I think that Dave Dombrowski would be crazy not to re-sign Max. I wouldn’t want to be in the Tigers front office right now. I wonder what the Tigers will look like by the time spring training rolls around. This is a Tigers wish list: I would like Mr. Dombrowski to re-sign Max Scherzer, and I would like Mr. Jones to fix Mr. Verlander, and I hope we can focus on Miguel Cabrera and try and win a World Series. I also wonder what the Tigers are going to look like heading to Florida next year?
