Going into Thursday’s game, you would have expected the Tigers to play much better, after they got hammered 12 to 3 Wednesday night in Baltimore’s Camden Yards. A win today and the Tigers would have had a chance to win the series in the next two games at Comerica Park in Detroit, Michigan. Now they are playing for their survival.

Starting on the mound for the Tigers today was a native of Goochland, Virginia, number 35, Justin Verlander. At the time of his departure in the fifth inning, the Tigers were leading 5 to 3. The Tigers added on a run in the top of the eighth to make it 6-3, but disaster struck in the bottom of the inning when number 44, Joba Chamberlain, gave up three runs and Delmon Young hit a game winning triple. The former Tiger put the nail in the coffin on the Motor City Kitties, therefore putting the Orioles one win away from soaring into the American League championship series. The championship will be played against either the Angels or the Royals, but has yet to be determined.
