Miami, Florida. After fireworks at Phonix, it was time to write NASCAR’s final chapter. Going into the race, the 48 had a shot at the Sprint Cup, but problems befell the five-time champ. It all started with a late in the race mistake when Knaus and crew forgot to tighten lug nuts on the champ’s tire. And then, there were more gremlins. This time, Knaus and team 48 couldn’t save the Johnson, which ultimately opened the door for Paul Wolf to howl at the moon. Keselowski, who drew this reporter’s ire a week ago with his post-race behavior in front of my colleagues in the Phoenix media center, struck again. This time, uttering the “d” word with Dr. Jerry Punch in a post-race interview. Brad is going to have to learn to keep his emotions in check, even though he is the champ. Sure, he might have taken lessons from Smoke during his reign as champ, but still, very inexcusable behavior coming from what apparently is a clean cut man. The 48 will make sure that this reign only lasts one year, because when you come so close to winning a championship, you have fire in your belly for next year. Or maybe his Smokiness will get back on top where he belongs. I have no problem with Roger Penske being a champion, but I do have a disagreement with Brad, because of the way he handles my media colleagues. NASCAR should make a rule. If you utter any profanities on TV, you will be docked points, and you might even get your title stripped.
