Indianapoils, Indiana. There were two races to cover this weekend in Jeremiah’s home state. It all began early Saturday morning, when the reindeer struck gold again. Scott Dixon made it look like Christmas again this time by winning the GMR Grand Prix on the road course at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
On Sunday, it was the 27th running of the Brickyard 400. The reason why it will be forever known as the Yard of Jeremiah is because I was at the 2001 running of the Brickyard, where Fox TV’s Jeff Gordon reigned supreme. This year, Kevin Harvick was able to repeat last year’s triumph. As far as Harvick goes, if you haven’t noticed a pattern in NASCAR, you haven’t been watching or reading this website, because so far since NASCAR’s hiatus due to the pandemic called COVID-19, it’s been the Harvick and Hamlin show, and it looked like the nightmare was going to strike again. FedEx was told by the city of Indianapolis to meet the wall, and had his closest competitor asking, “is he ok?” As for Harvick, this was his fourth win on the season.
NASCAR goes to Kentucky next week, where we had an epic battle between Kurt and Kyle Busch one year ago, and it looked like neither Busch was going to be able to grow leaves. Kyle, however, is finding it really difficult to defend his 2019 Cup title. Will Kyle be able to turn around a dismal season, or will he be singing the blues coming out of the bluegrass state? As for seven time Cup champion Jimmie Johnson, he was struck by the virus when his wife tested positive. NASCAR has told him that if he gets two negative tests in a row, he is allowed to come back to the track and finish his final season in NASCAR competition. As for little Gator, Justin Allgaier, who hails from Riverton, Illinois, was unable to give the 48 team anything to celebrate on Sunday. Jimmie’s nightmare of a winless season continues to rain horror on Cliff Daniels, his crew chief. Meanwhile, Chad Knaus hasn’t won any races with the car driven by William Byron. We will be continuing to watch if Knaus can trap William Byron with his first win, or if Daniels can finally enjoy falling off the Cliff with Johnson.
