It was one year ago that the number 48 Lowes Chevrolet was able to pull off a Daytona sweep, by winning the 500 to start the season and then back it up with a win in July to pick up the Daytona sweep. How special would that be for Earnhardt Jr, and the outgoing crew chief Steve LeTarte? I don’t think that Jimmie will be smiling at the end of Saturday night in this year’s Coke Zero 400 like he was last year. I think the win is going to go to the 88 crew! I also think that there is something magical going on with the number 88 crew this year. I can see Dale and Steve celebrating in Homestead at the end of this year, but only time will tell. NASCAR is really fun this year, and I think it has a lot to do with the way they have the Chase set up. You can’t just go after the top five, you actually have to win this year, and you have to earn each round. It’s Johnson proof, so that if he finishes in the top five, he is not going to be able to run away with the title. He will actually have to win.
