Today, in the North Dakota state Capitol, you will hear nothing but sneakers on the floor that the Dakota Wizards used to call home, before they ceased operations in Bismarck and moved to Santa Cruz, California. You will hear high school kids sneakers, as they go after two trophies, one on the boys side and one on the female side. Last year, we didn’t have basketball at all that really meant anything. The ND High School Athletic Association had decided to call off the boys and girls competition in the middle of the tournament process. You should never have to tell kids, sorry you can’t play for your dreams. This year, it’s back in its usual hoops location. The Civic Center plays host to the best time of year in North Dakota. One of the players to watch for Mandan is Tyler Thilmony. He can play boom baby ball if needed. The other team that Jeremiah will be interested to see is Jordan Wilhelm and the Bismarck Demons. Mandan will play at noon today against West Fargo Sheyenne. Immediately after that, at 2:30, Bismarck High gets a chance at a hot floor on the boys side against West Fargo. Another team to watch is Minot, to see if they can pull a magic trophy of their hat. It will be a basketball filled weekend in Bismarck, like it will be soon when Indianapolis will play host to the NCAA kingdom. Jeremiah picks Minot to win on the boys side, and on the girls side, I’ll go with the Century Patriots.
