After getting smoked 8-1 on Tuesday, the art of pitching was on the mound for both teams at Comerica Park on Wednesday evening. Doug Fister had great effort through eight innings. We went in to the ninth inning with no score and the Rays stung the Tigers for three runs. Detroit was unable to recover from the Rays stinging them. Unfortunately, Doug Fister was the tough luck loser, because Drew Smiley was unable to keep the Rays sting away from his Tigers team mate. Inconsistency hurt the Tigers pitching staff, and their inability to keep the ball down also hurt the Tigers. Jim Leyland should have left Fister in the game and not pulled him. Just another inexcusable and ridiculous performance from the Tigers bullpen. Something needs to be done with the Tigers bullpen, because there is no way in the world that you will win back to back American League titles with the way the bullpen is right now. Jeff Jones and Jim Leyland both know it! This wasn’t Fister’s fault at all. He had everything working beautifully, and he was taking the corners of the plates beautifully. To make matters worse, the Indians lost. It would have been a big opportunity for the Motor City team to add to their lead. Today, the Tigers will go with Max Scherzer, who is a native of St. Louis MO. He also happens to be undefeated too. We can’t allow Tampa to take 2 out of 3. Matt needs to bring his “A” game today. The Tigers need to forget about yesterday and need to come alive right away, and not allow Tampa to get an early lead. Keep the ball down. Also when you have a hitter in the 0-2 hole, don’t leave the baseball up.
