Today begins the second half of the season starting with a double header between Miguel Cabrera and Josh Donaldson. The two combatants both leave a lot to be desired. The Twins are 0 and 0 after the All Star break. One team could be 2-0 while the other team could be 0-2 to begin the second half. The sad part about all this is not the fact that the Tigers and Twins have been floundering around with each other, but that the Twins were supposed to be Central Division champions. Not only on paper but on the field. The Twins with two wins would be at 41 wins, which is still a far cry from where they were supposed to be. The White Sox are on top of the Central but maybe they have a big ego, so maybe the Twins can come from behind and overtake the Sox. I look for the White Sox to fall on hard times to the rest of the Central Division, while I look for the Twins to get out of the cellar and pull away from the Motor City. It all starts today with not one but two games. Josh Donaldson needs to put the first half behind him, and focus on the Minnesota Twins. He can’t be focused on Lucas Giolito. He needs to play better baseball instead of focusing on the mess that he got himself into in the first half with Lucas. Miggy needs to hit a lot of “it’s gone” versus the Twins, because I think we will have a power matchup between him and Donaldson all day and into early Saturday evening. The first game starts at 12:10 Eastern. Meanwhile, the evening session of baseball starts at 5:10.
