Even though this writer was not rooting for the Blackhawks to clinch their third title in six seasons last night, this writer found a reason to be happy with the Hawks, because their captain used to play for UND. Jonathan, who is a native of Winnepeg Canada, signed an eight year extension with the Hawks in 2014. He remains wearing the C for the Blackhawks for seven more years, until the 2022 season. Minnesota will have to wrestle with the Hawks as long as Jonathan is over there. I do not see that the Hawks are going to release their hold on supremacy any time soon, unless they lose one of their key pieces from their title run. Minnesota is going to have to go through Chicago, as well as St. Louis, Nashville, and San Jose. If anybody wants to get the Stanley Cup, they are going to have to go through the United Center.

Without Scott Darling coming in during the Nashville series, we may not be talking about the Blackhawks being champions right now. He is a darling of a goalie. He helped the Blackhawks get by the Nashville Predators. We could have been talking about the Blues or the Wild, but because of Scott Darling, the Blackhawks were able to lift the Stanley Cup over their heads on Monday night.
