Just when you thought there would be no defending champion in the playoffs, there will be, due to Chase Elliott’s rain shortened win at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin. Elliott will be in the final 10 races that will decide the championship. He is the reigning NSACAR champion, and sometimes even the reigning champion gets overlooked. Denny Hamlin is your points leader right now, and he will get 15 extra bonus points if he wins the regular season championship. Chase Elliott is only 26 years old, so he will be a force to be dealt with for many years to come. Hamlin owns 23-11 Racing and also happens to be co-owner with Michael Jordan from the Bulls. His driver is Bubba Wallace, who is from Mobile, Alabama. The next race is a non points race at Texas Motor Speedway this Sunday on FS1, because it is the All Star Race with some of NASCAR’s all stars, like Kevin Harvick and Denny Hamlin, along with whoever the fans vote in. The winner gets $1,000,000.
