I had a chance to get inside Demon football as they prepared to go into a “hornets nest” according to coach Gibson. I asked coach Gibson how he helps his son Hayden prepare for a crowd? Gibson said he does nothing. “If you talk about it a lot that’s all they will think about, and kids will be kids.” I then went on to ask if he could compare this team with last year. The coach said the Demons had way more talent last year, but he also said that he likes this group of Demons this year and is impressed with the senior leadership, how fearless the sophomores are, and how all the kids approach practice. I then asked the coach if the Jays could create problems for you? Gibson stated that the Jays are very excited to play Bismarck High, and “we just need to start traveling better.” Gibson also said he can’t remember the last time that the Jays were off to a 2-0 start. He also states that BHS has a very inexperienced team this year. Coach Gibson went on to say that “everyone makes a big deal about the Demons being five times undefeated in the West, but we don’t. We just want to get better each week.” I asked if there was anything that needed to be buttoned up from the Packers game, and Gibson said “we will find out on Friday.” The Demons play in Jamestown tonight against the Blue Jays at 7pm.
