With the starting of a new season tonight, people are looking to shoot arrows at the Chiefs. When you’re number one, everybody brings the level of their game up. Tom Brady found out it’s not always easy to defend a title. New England jettisoned him to Tampa Bay, because Bill Belichick and Brady were not on the same page. So that led Brady to be on the coast of Florida. As for tonight’s game, the quarterback from Texas Tech, Patrick Mahomes, will face pressure from JJ Watt and Whitney Mercilus. I expect Whitney and JJ to be in the Chief’s backfield all night long, trying to get Patrick to meet the Kansas City turf. Also, I am looking for this game to be won or lost by the running backs of both teams. And you can expect JJ Watt to be a fly in the ointment for the Chiefs, like he is with when he plays the Colts. This will be a test that Patrick hasn’t aced yet. He knows what it’s like to get a Super Bowl trophy, but he doesn’t know what it takes to defend. Not yet, anyway. And on the other side, we have a team that is the defending AFC South champion, so they are going to get a taste of what Arrowhead can be like if you’re not ready for the challenge of beating the defending Super Bowl champ. Another player to watch is Houston running back Keke Coutee, from the same school as Patrick Mahomes, because last year, he feasted on the Colts. But this year, he gets a chance to give the champs their first loss. If you’re a Colts fan, you want the Texans to be 0-1. The kicking game of both teams may not be sharp, because they did not have a preseason. So I would expect both teams to come out a little nervous to play the game. But once the competition gets going, I expect Patrick to find enough offense to pull away from the Texans.
