After losing 7-0 and 2-1 to a red hot Wings team, coached by my Coach of the Year Scott Langer, I was thinking about my hockey team, the Bismarck Bobcats and how much I have missed them. The Sheriff wanted to be nice and give every member of his family a hug, even the head coach and general manager Layne Sedevie. When you listen to Andrew on the radio, you can tell that he is almost depressed, because Aberdeen is doing a lot of severe damage all over the place. Meanwhile, Coach Sedevie probably feels like yelling about everything that has to do with hockey. He can be rather explosive, because this reporter has heard it for himself at a practice at the not so friendly confines of the VFW Sports Center. His wife probably wishes he wasn’t the head coach of the Bobcats, because he puts so much pressure on himself. He is a native of Bismarck, North Dakota. If he wasn’t a native of here and didn’t give a darn about Thom’s team, who knows if he would be in Wichita Falls with Garrett Roth? To know Layne and his wife is to love them. When I see the head coach on Wednesday, I am going to try and talk him off the cliff. Better days are coming, Layne. You don’t need to use explosive language with your captain or any of your other players. You just need to show them the movie Miracle on Ice, where Herb Brooks turned the lights off at the rink and said, “who to you play for?” and the whole team, to a man, said “USA”. Maybe I can try to go in the Bobcats locker room and ask the players, “who do you play for?” and they would say, “Bismarck Bobcats.”
