Aberdeen, SD. First, I would like to extend my heart felt thanks to a man I have known for 23 years, and it all started with the Bismarck Bobcats. Scott Langer was the first ever assistant coach with the Bobcats, so I grew up around him. He now runs the defending NAHL champs, who hold an impressive 12-0-0 record. They have not lost a game since the season has started. That is the way you make sure that the Robertson Cup doesn’t leave the Aberdeen locker room. I asked Scott why the Aberdeen Wings are hot, and have no signs of slowing down anytime soon. He said that the Wings did a good job of recruiting good players with a good work ethic, and he said “this is the best team I have worked with in Aberdeen.” They are like a family, and that bond carries on the ice and is maintained in the locker room. The Wings have two goalies, Jake Sibell, who was with them last year for the run to the Robbie, and Dominik Wasik, who is a new Wings face this year. The upcoming Bobcats vs. Wings series is a home and home series beginning in Cat land at 7:15 on Friday, before shifting to the city of champions on Saturday night. The Wings’ power play is part of their deadly attack, and is clipping along at 30%. Langer says that “when they need to light the lamp, they are successful.” Unlike Bismarck, who started the campaign with a woeful power play, before finding William Magnuson, who has been the medicine for the ailing power play. Langer says his team will not have an easy time trying to barbecue the Cats, because Bismarck has found new players that make them purr. As far as the Titan Machinery Cup that goes to the winner of the series between the Cats and the Wings, the numbers lean heavily in favor of the Defending champions. The number of games they have won against the Cats is astounding, and is an unacceptable number to this Bobcat writer.
