Despite the early goal from Clint Dempsey, Ghana found a way to erase the early momentum that he had given the red, white, and blue not even a minute into the game. But after Ghana’s goal, the USA would have to call on a pair of young fresh legs by the name of John Brooks. He would be the answer that Ghana would never be able to recover from, as he would make a name for himself by becoming the first ever substitute to score off USA’s bench. With the win, USA gets three points, and Ghana is forced to wonder what might have been if they would have been able to keep the score tied. The USA will move on to face Portugal, who was white washed four to nothing by Germany earlier on Monday. The next game will be on the 22nd against Portugal, at 5pm Central time. A list of players that are out on injury from Monday’s Ghana game would include DaMarcus Beasley and Jozy Altidore. They are out because of a hamstring injury. Clint Dempsey will play, but he will have to wear a mask.
