After a 3-2 win on Friday night, the Bismarck Bobcats were able to complete a sweep of the number 4 Watertown Shamrocks with a 5-4 overtime win on Saturday night at the VFW Sports Center in Bismarck, North Dakota. With the win, the Bobcats are five points behind the front running Austin Bruins, led by Steve Howard. The Bobcats, who are led by Garrett Roth and Alec Rauhauser, are trying to defend last year’s Robertson Cup. We are nowhere near the end of the season, but a win like this can serve notice to the rest of the league, “you can’t count out last year’s Robertson Cup winner.”
If you are looking for a Coach of the Year candidate, may I suggest Garrett Roth, because he is the Central Divison’s best coach, and he will be at the Top Prospects Tournament next week, along with Bruins bench boss Howard.
The Bobcats have now allowed six short handed goals on the season, and the Shamrocks were able to light the lamp on a power play, due to a Bobcat penalty. We have to do better in those areas if we want to be relevant and a contender for Robbie again.
On Friday and Saturday, the Bobcats will tangle with the seventh place St. Cloud Norsemen at the VFW.
