It was time for the Twins to renew old acquaintances with Terry Francona and the Cleveland Indians on Thursday night. The damage came on an 0-2 pitch in the third inning from Jose Berrios to Franscisco Lindor, when Barrios should know better than to give one of baseball’s best hitters a cookie. Lindor properly did what any great hitter would do, and hit a two run shot that ended up being the undoing for Berrios and the Twins. Shane Bieber was right on target, frustrating the Twins big boppers Josh Donaldson and Nelson Cruz. They were tied up all night long, and unable to unleash the fury and hit any bombas. Beaver would pitch six solid innings and put the Indians a half game ahead of the Twins with a 5-2 record. Tonight is going to be really intense, because the Twins are already down one 1-0 to the Indians. Let’s give Bieber credit; it’s not easy to tie up a powerful lineup like he did, and you rarely leave the Twins with a goose egg on the scoreboard. If you were listening to the Indians’ flagship, WBAM, you would have heard Tom Hamilton screaming his lungs out, because that’s how he is when the Tribe hits a home run. Unfortunately for Cory Provus and Dan Gladden, they watched as Beaver chewed up the Twins.
