Las Vegas, Nevada. Going in to the weekend, it was another one of those weekends where Roger Penske was on the top of the NASCAR headlines. With the Middletown, Connecticut native and the Rochester Hills, Michigan native claiming the top two spots for today’s Kobalt Tools 400. But who would have all the tools at the end of the day? That would be your question going in to today’s race. The pole means nothing, it’s how you perform during the race that means something. And for Junior, it looked like he was going to get his second win of the year. But leave it to Paul Wolfe and the 30 year old from Rochester Hills to come up with the right strategy and the right game plan. At the end of the day, that would bring Keselowski sipping a Miller Lite and this reporter celebrating, because still no sign of the King of NASCAR yet. I have told you Jimmie was going to have trouble with his new role, and so far I have been right. Every week that goes by and we don’t hear from Jimmie makes me very happy, because that just proves to me that Knaus and Johnson are incapable of getting a seventh title. And if you haven’t noticed, the 88 has all the momentum out of the 48 shop. The 88 and the 48 share a shop together, which puts Knaus and Steve Letarte together and Steve Letarte and Dale Junior seem to have the momentum right now. Next week is Bristol, where anything can happen. It’s going to be fun to watch and listen to PRN, but I predict one of these weekends, it’s got to be a Hendrick weekend, and I predict sooner rather than later. Jimmie Johnson will punch his ticket for the Chase next weekend.
