Every year is different, but the league never gets boring. It is with great excitement that I welcome the 2020-21 Bobcats. I have not seen any hockey since the league was shut down due to coronavirus. I would like to thank owner Thom Brigl for the opportunity to let loose a hockey puck and participate in the ceremonial opening faceoff on Friday night. It isn’t every day that Bobcat fans get to appreciate their Sheriff, unless you read the material that I write. It’s not often that the Sheriff gets to hear his favorite sound in hockey; sticks banging not for him, but for a team win. Tomorrow night during the opening faceoff, the Sheriff is going to greatly appreciate both teams banging their sticks, but mainly my Bobcat family and Layne Sedevie, who is in his 11th season at the helm. Every year that I’ve known Coach Sedevie, he has opened his locker room so I can bring the greatest fans in the league coverage of their team. But I will have a heavy heart, because someone I love will be missing. Garrett Roth, the all time leading Bobcat scorer, has moved on to Wichita Falls, Texas. The last time I saw 27 was last winter while they were still playing hockey. I did not see him after the stoppage. I wish I had more time with Coach Johnson’s disciple. He was always so nice to me and I wish he could see me drop the puck. But I’m thankful for the people who will be able to witness the start of my 23rd year with the Cats.
