Bismarck, ND. For immediate release.
Bobcat Country’s favorite Sheriff went into the den today to get a feel for the 2020-21 Bobcats. The first topic that Layne and I chatted about was last weekend in Minot, where the Cats earned a split, falling to the Tauros 1-0 on Friday night, and then rebounding in a shootout on Saturday to even their record at 1-1, going in to a home and home battle with the defending Robertson Cup champion Aberdeen Wings, who are led by former Bobcats assistant coach Scott Langer. Sedevie thought the team played pretty well in Minot to earn two points. On Friday, they just couldn’t put the vulcanized rubber past Minot goalie Keenan Rancier. Sedevie said he was happy with the team’s work effort, but “we have stuff we need to work on.” Regarding goaltending, he thought Noah’s ark was good, and that Tommy Aiken was good too. He also singled out some of the veterans, like Austin Schwartz and he lauded the new guys like Mike Troumbly, Joey Malaguni and Hunter Jones. Next, we chatted about the team with the target on their back. Sedevie said that Aberdeen is going to come out and work hard, just like the Bobcats hopefully will, too. Sedevie said that Noah Altman has a lower body injury, so Tommy Aitken will het the nod between the pipes both nights. This year, the team will need to be down to 24 players by November 15. The game plan for Aberdeen is “to win!” I asked him how he felt about playing the defending champion Wings, and Sedevie quipped to the Sheriff’s Patrol that he didn’t think the Wings were going to win it last year. As you remember, Bobcat fans, Bismarck was two points away from Aberdeen when the league halted play due to coronavirus. Sedevie stayed in his own words that he thinks the Minot and Aberdeen rivalry is “the best rivalry in the league, as good as it gets in Junior A hockey.”
