The stars of the Nextel Cup will invade the famous speedway located at 16th and Georgetown Rd in Speedway, Indiana after a week off. Previous winner Tony Stewart is back home again in Indiana where he was born and raised. The native of Rushville, Indiana is a clear-cut favorite in his home state. Prior to the week off, he earned a win in Chicagoland Speedway. He goes into the Brickyard in position #6 in the drivers’ point standings. Meanwhile, Jimmie Johnson looks to become a two-time winner at the track that boosted him to his first Nextel Cup title. This could be a springboard for an ailing defending champion who had been up in the top five most of the year until just recently. Johnson has seen his once promising chances of winning a title possibly start to fade in the sunlight. Then there’s Dale Earnhardt Jr., who is in his final ride with DEI, at the Brickyard. Next year when NASCAR returns back to Speedway, Earnhardt will not have the familiar #8 or the colors that have adorned him most of his Nextel Cup career. Earnhardt will be a teammate to the current point leader and the current Nextel Cup champion when he replaces Kyle Busch on Rick Hendrick’s driver roster. These are some of the stories that Wild Inspire will cover from the “Yard of Jeremiah.” We will try to get interviews from most of the parties that are involved in the Dale Earnhardt Jr. deal. Find out if the #48 will be kissing the Yard of Bricks again or if trouble will await on the hollowed ground that is the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
