This last Wednesday we had a chance to check in with the new leader of the Bobcats, Zach Van Sent. He replaced the former captain Jared Resseguie, who has moved on to the Denver Pioneers of the CHHC Conference for NCAA Division 1 hockey. The Bobcats are on the road this weekend looking for at least three points against the third place Minnesota Wilderness in a two game series, trying to close on their current three point deficit against the Wilderness. The Bobcats currently are in fourth place in the NAHL Central Division, sitting six points ahead of the Minot Minotauros who have played two less games then the Bobcats.

We asked Van Sent what was the hardest thing to do as captain and he said that was to get his teammates taking care of the little things that come with playing Junior A hockey, like working hard in practice for preparing for the upcoming games that weekend. When asked if the Bobcats miss Resseguie, Van Sent went on to say “He was a great leader and great teammate”. When it came to how the Bobcats were going to achieve success this weekend, Van Sent stated “If we run our system the right way, we will have that success”.

According to Assistant Coach Garrett Roth, the bigger ice sheet at Northwoods Credit Union Arena in Cloquet that the Wilderness play on should not have any bearing on how the Bobcats run their system. “We just have to remain disciplined in our ares of responsibility and not get drawn outside of those areas.”
