Bismarck, ND. On Saturday night, it was time for the latest installment of North Dakota vs. North Dakota. The Bobcats were still celebrating the first two games against Minot, which they won. But the Tauros had other ideas than a Cats sweep. The Bobcats had had success in the usual House of Horrors, so they were pretty confident going in to Saturday’s final installment of the North Dakota Subway Cup. But Minot got on the board first, on a goal by Kyle Kukkonen, and the Tauros were ready to erase the EF5 tornado that struck Minot the night before, leaving people at the Maysa stunned and in utter disbelief at the Bobcats as their claws were sharp. The rest of the matchup happened to be an even affair. The Bobcats would answer on a goal by one of the newcomers, Luke Gramer. But Minot would strike again, this time it would be a familiar name, Carter the Korpi, who used to wear Bobcat colors and now wears ugly Tauros colors. He would reclaim the lead for the Tauros 2-1. The Bobcats would show that they had nine lives like their head coach, and they came storming back. But Noah Altman was unable to hold the lead intact. Minot would get the winning goal from the pain in the neck Korpi, who blasted it by Altman, giving the Tauros one win on the weekend and leaving Head Coach Layne Sedevie with a 4-6 record. Shane Wagner, who used to be the Tauros assistant coach, has now been upgraded to the head coach position after the stunning departure of Marty Murray, who took a job with the Sioux City Stampede. Wagner is lucky to have one of the most irritating players on the face of the planet, Korpi, who likes to torment the Black and Gold. Just when you start thinking that the Bobcats’ troubles are behind them, I don’t think so, because they have to go to the Deen and play a scalding hot Wings team that has a record of 10-0-0 after they dispatched the Bruins in overtime last Saturday night, leaving Sedevie to say “we’ve got to go back to practice and get ready to hopefully slow the Wings and Scott Langer.” Right now, it looks like the city of Aberdeen is going to get another Central cup and possibly be a two time Robertson Cup champion, much to the chagrin of the Bobcats and the rest of the league.
