For BHS, it looked like that they were headed for the unthinkable ending.  There is a lot of pressure when you are the #1 seed, and for BHS that was clearly evident in the first half of yesterday’s quarterfinal match-up with the #4 seed, the Wahpeton Huskies, as Wahpeton had more bark to their bite.  BHS was missing free-throws from the charity stripe and looked nervous, which is not what you want when you have senior leadership, especially when it’s time to be great at state.  In the end, the BHS veterans stepped up and earned themselves a showdown with last years defending champions the Dickinson Midgets.  (The Midgets were shaky at best yesterday while having to deal with a tough bunch from Fargo North, 80-78.)

How does one of Steve Miller’s seniors feel about it?  JB’s Sportscorner had a chance to interview one of the senior leaders, Ryan Malm, on the BHS ball club.  “We didn’t come to play the first half, but we picked it up the second half intensity wise. We played a lot better team defense and that’s what helped us win,” Malm said of the feisty Huskies game.  Ryan Malm indicated to JB’s Sportscorner of the impending showdown with the defending champs, “we need to come out and play well right of the bat. There’s a lot of teams in this tournament that are just going to not let us back in it.”
