Then on Sunday, the Home Depot driver went to work, outsmarting the competition to lead wire to wire. For a brief moment on Sunday, it looked like Mark Martin would have enough tools for a win when he passed the Home Deopt Toyota, but youth would out duel the ageless one, and show the rest of the field why he had the tools for victory at Pocono. Last year, it was Jeff Gordon in Victory Lane at Pocono, and this year, it was the Middletown, Connecticut native enjoying the thrill of victory. Meanwhile, after a sub par Saturday, the defending Sprint Cup champion, Tony Stewart, rallied to finish third. The series now heads to the Irish Hills of Michigan, where the drivers face another re-paved track. Tony Stewart is proving that if someone else wants a piece of his throne, then the 14 team is still a force to be reckoned with. In other NASCAR news, we will know the future of Kurt Busch this coming Tuesday, when he goes to Phoenix Racing for a meeting with owner James Finch. That could determine whether the shrub is planting his butt in the car, or gets dug up.
