Detroit, Michigan. The Tigers had their pit bull on the mound yesterday, but little did they know that there was a pit bull in the Boston dugout. His name is Mike Napoli. Verlander had the crowd buzzing, but leave it to Napoli to make it sound like a Detroit funeral home. Doug Fister and the rest of his Tiger teammates now face a must win situation tonight. Or, I hate to say this Tigers, but one more anemic night by the boys from the Motor City and there will be a possibility of a salty celebration on the Tigers field. We will never know why Justin Verlander threw Napoli a cookie. Verlander’s pitch could be fatal to the Tigers if Doug Fister has a really bad performance. Another question I have is what is going through Al Avilla’s mind? Knowing that his son is one of several key free agents. If I was Al, then I would give my son a new contract to keep him in the old english “D”. The question then becomes what about Max? I would re-sign him if I was the Tigers. If you let him go, then I think that Dave Dombrowski would become one of the dumbest general managers in baseball. How in heaven’s name could you let one of the key pieces of your puzzle go? More on Dave and Al later, but tonight the attention needs to be on Doug Fister, and the Tigers anemic offense. I hope we can make Boston feel the pressure and make their fans worried when the series goes back to bean town. There are still two more games in the Tigers jungle, so I am hoping that we can be watching a possible Motor City celebration in Boston’s ball park. We need Doug to re-fire our engine, and we also need Miguel Cabrera to bite out of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and with one tremendous roar we will be back in the series tied at two. I am referring to Boston’s starter who is a native of Mobile, Alabama, Jake Peavy.
