Brooklyn, Michigan. On a day when it looked like Five Time would make this the Pure Johnson 400, he had to start at the back of the field due to a crash in not-so-happy hour. The first half of the Pure Michigan 400 was a Pure wreck-fest. Caution usually breeds caution, and for the first half of the 400, it was littered with yellow flags. But then, cooler heads prevailed and Jimmie Johnson was bitten by gremlins in the 48 car. He would never see the race track again. With 23 to go, it looked like it would be pure Keselowski, but then some questionable crew chiefing by Paul Wolfe would not leave Keselowsaki howling. In the end, it was Pure Logano, as Logano carried the momentum from Friday all the way to Victory Lane on Sunday. With only three races remaining, questions still remain about the Rochester Hiils Michigan native and his crew chief. Will they make the Chase, or will they be forced to look ahead to 2014? Stay tuned to this website for further posts on BK and Wolfe. Meanwhile, the thrill of victory goes to a 23 year old Middletown Connecticut native, Jory Logano, who right now is Penske’s only hope if they want to keep the title in their stable. Jimmie Johnson has nothing but questions going into Thunder Vally on Saturday night. Can he hold on to one of the top seeds going in to the Chase, which starts in less than three weeks? As for the injured Tony Stewart, Austin Dillon did not have a good day at Michigan, and Mark Martin is scheduled to go into the 14 car at Bristol. Whether or not this marks the end of Smoke, due to his broken fibula, we don’t know, but I speculate that the Indiana native may be contemplating retirement as a driver, and focusing solely on owning the team. There are a lot of stories to follow. Stay tuned on your home for everything that goes fast, as I listen to Mike Bagley and Pete Pistone on the Morning Drive. I will bring you the stories they talk about in later posts.
