Bloomington, Indiana. With the Boilermakers and the Hoosiers having no shot at the Big Ten title game in Indy, yesterday was their Pasadena with the winner earning a right to put an I or a P on one of Indiana’s most famous trophies, the Old Oaken Bucket. Last year in Boilermaker country, it was the neighbors to the south earning the bucket. With the Boilermakers at 5-6 coming in, and the Hoosiers at 1-10, who would come out with more passion in this, the 107th edition of the Old Oaken Bucket? It would be Indiana getting on the board early, 7-0, before the gates would go down and the Boilers would blow the whistle, tying the game at 7-7. This game wasn’t without controversy, however, and the boys from Bloomington would put together a late drive that would be ended on a questionable call. It appeared like IU caught the ball, but the referees ruled it incomplete, and the bucket went back to West Lafayette, with the final score Purdue 33, Indiana 25.
