Speedway, Indiana – The 16th running of the AllState at the Brickyard is complete.  This race weekend wasn’t filled with tires, unlike in the past.  This year’s version was anything but the heat.  This race weekend showed why Jimmie Johnson is the three-time king.  A great battle ensued between two of Rick Hendrick’s top drivers, the #5 CarQuest Chevrolet and the #48 Lowe’s Chevrolet.  Inside the #5 car
you had a first time pole winner at the Brickyard, Mark Martin.

Meanwhile, inside the #48 car you had a three-time majesty of NASCAR, Jimmie Johnson.  Martin put a scare into Johnson when he was better in turns 1 and 2.  Johnson was better in 3 and 4.  The first half of the race was about Juan Pablo Montoya and how he was able to “Mon- toy” with the field.  But then, NASCAR delivered a fatal blow to what looked to be history, as Montoya was looking to become the first driver to win an Indianapolis 500 and a Brickyard 400, when the #42, when the #42 was caught for speeding.  With the win, NASCAR better look out because here comes rumbling from #48 as he attempts to tie Jeff Gordon’s record of four straight cup championships.

In other news from Indianapolis, Ron Hornaday and Carl Edwards both took home wins in the Truck and Nationwide Series respectively.  For Hornaday, it was his fourth win in a row.  Rowdy Kyle Busch continues to lead in the Nationwide Series points by 212 over Edwards.
Meanwhile, Hornaday leads the Truck Series points.  In the Sprint Cup Series points, Tony Stewart continues to “Smoke” along with a 102
point advantage over the new second place challenger Jimmie Johnson. The Sprint Series now heads to Pocono for the Pennsylvania 500.
