With MLB starting on Wednesday, and the defending Central Division champs almost ready to play, I thought I would give Twins Territory my thoughts on the prospects of them winning the World Series. I see the Tigers under manager Ron GardenFire only winning minimal games. That doesn’t mean 0-60, but your wins will remain paltry at best. Chicago is going to finish number two, behind the Twins, because the White Sox do not have the chemistry like the Twins do. Several teams are going to be hurt by having only 60 games, and having managers that don’t know how to install a game plan. The Twins have the right nucleus to defend the Central crown, led by Rocco Baldelli, the Manager of the year last year in the American League. And they also have from the Toronto Blue Jays, Josh Donaldson, who is capable of exploding, and being the AL MVP, like St. Paul native Joe Mauer. They also have Alex Avila, who should be capable of taking the Twins pitching to the top of baseball, and Mitch Garvey is capable of doing the same thing. Not only in the dugout do they have what it takes to win baseball games, but they have unity on the field. The only thing that could be a little problem is the Twins had to stop and start spring training, but spring training doesn’t really prove whether or not you’re a good team. It’s your whole body of work, and what happens when you have championship parts missing. That’s why the Cleveland Indians could not defend their position at the top of the Central Division.
