Kansas City, Kansas. It was the third race of the Chase for NASCAR supremacy. Jimmie Johnson started 21st on Sunday with Denny Hamlin as your points leader. Hamlin had trouble in today’s race. Meanwhile, Jimmie is Jimmie as he served notice to the rest of NASCAR: “If you want the Sprint Cup, you’re going to have to go through my kingdom.” This is starting to look like an all-too-familiar story for the rest of Johnson’s competitors. Jimmie now has an 8 point lead as they head to Johnson Dreamin’ land, Auto Club Speedway of Southern California. Today, Johnson was using the same setup as the DuPont Chevrolet of Jeff Gordon. In other NASCAR stories, the immaturity of one Kyle Busch reared its ugly head yet again, but this time the usually mild-mannered Joe Gibbs showed me a side that I think he should not have shown on national television when he was very combative with Kyle “Rowdy” Busch. It all started when David Reutimann took Kyle Busch out of contention and relegated him to 41st place. That drew the ire of Gibbs, who began staring down David Reutimann’s crew. This was very unprofessional for a car owner of a major team in the Chase to do that. There are better ways to handle it away from the television cameras, like going into the hauler with Kyle and talking privately.
