Bloomington, Indiana. Yesterday, instead of listening to WAZY like I always do when the Boilers play, I listened to WHCC out of Bloomington to hear the venerable Don Fischer as he called the battle between the Train and the Hoosiers. It was nice to hear the Hoosiers call on a day when Don was being honored at halftime for 50 years of broadcasting with the Hoosiers. It was nice to be able to listen and cover the Hoosiers and the Boilers yesterday.

Even though the Boilers were knocked off by the Hoosiers, it was still nice to hear a different perspective on the Boilermakers. I usually go with Rob Blackman and Bobby Buckets Riddell, but on this day, I wanted a fresh look. The Boilers are still my team, but the Hoosiers are my second favorite team, so whenever the Boilers battle the Hoosiers, I know I have a second favorite announcer.

Purdue suffered only their second loss, but not by much. After being down by 15 points in the first half, the Whistle was starting to blow, but it ended up with the cream and crimson winning 79-74. Of course, being from Lafayette, I want the Boilers to win the national title, but if the Hoosiers make a deep run in March Madness, I will take that, because I’m a Hoosier, too.

The cream and crimson next play on Tuesday against the Scarlet Knights, while the Boilers play Iowa on Thursday. The Train looks for revenge against Indiana at Mackey Arena on Saturday, February 25.
